"Les Plates Pierres" is a plot of vines cultivated by the Grumier family for many generations.
The limestone and clay soil awas completely replanted in 1990 and 1991, this large vineyard (1.40 ha) produces wines of great aromatic purity. The family strives to best express this wonderful terroir by practicing gentle viticulture with grass cover and tillage under the row.
The grapes planted are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
In great years, like 2012, this wine is built for aging.
This Champagne is at its very fine peak. Named after the flat stones in the vineyard, this blend of Chardonnay with Pinot Noir is just beginning to show maturity and toastiness. At this moment, these secondary flavors add richness to the white fruits and the tight mineral texture. Drink now. Roger Voss
