Robert Parker (98)

The 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Grand Pin is about as aromatic and perfumed as CdP gets, with scents of lavender, rosemary, pine sap, bay leaves, cherries, raspberries and orange zest making for a swirling bouquet of complex deliciousness. Full-bodied and silky-textured, it finishes long and elegant. Just sensational stuff.

Falstaff (99)

Strong ruby, purple reflections, ochre reflections on the rim. Hints of garrique savouriness, floral notes, red wild berries, subtle hints of black truffle; a multi-faceted, inviting bouquet. Taut, elegant, fine fruit expression, sour cherries, ripe plums, some nougat, fine tannins. Perfectly balanced, mineral-salty finish, very great length, certain ageing potential.

Cut from the same cloth, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Grand Pin is also incredibly floral and complex, with beautiful red fruits as well as loads of floral, rose petal, and spicy nuances. It's beautiful on the palate as well, medium to full-bodied, and perfectly balanced, with ripe tannins and integrated acidity. It has a Grand Cru Burgundy-like regalness with classic Southern Rhône character.

Vinous (95)

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Grand Pin is a terrific effort from winemaker Baptiste Grangeon. The 2020 was aged like the La Guigasse for two years in demi-muids and made entirely from Grenache. It mixes precise aromas of crushed violets, blood orange, fresh mango, strawberry and raspberry with hints of dried herb and mint. On the palate it is full-bodied, built on a core of velvety tannins and possessing staggering intensity, before concluding with a long-lasting finish.
