A wine I suspect will be the white wine of the vintage, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Speciale Vieilles Clairettes Blanc is a tiny production cuvee (there?s only 800 magnums made) that comes from a single parcel of very old Clairette, and spends two years in new demi-muids. A rich, unctuous, incredibly textured white that?s overflowing with notions of orange marmalade, pineapple, buttered citrus and toasted bread, it has full-bodied richness, a thick, layered texture and a great finish. Don?t miss it!
Shows good intensity, with a citrus oil frame around a mix of pink grapefruit, nectarine, star fruit and white peach flavors. The lightly buttered finish maintains good tension, while verbena and heather notes chime in. Very long. Only bottled in magnum
