The 2016 Saint Joseph Les Coteaux looks as good from bottle as it did from tank last year. Richly concentrated and velvety, this medium to full-bodied beauty features savory notes of black olive, allspice and clove, backed by supple tannins and a long finish.
Starting off the two 2016s from barrel in Saint Joseph, the 2016 Saint Joseph Les Coteaux comes all from granite soils, was completely destemmed and will spend 12 months in 15% new oak. Blackberries, blueberries, tapenade and game meats all give way to a ripe, seriously textured 2016 that has a great mid-palate, sweet tannin and a good finish. It should be an outstanding wine.
