Deep vivid red. Aromas of cherry, smoked meat, garrigue and leather on the highly pungent nose. In a vaguely rustic style, offering dried cherry, spicecake and succulent herb flavors that unfurl steadily on the back half. Dusty tannins lend solid grip to the finish, which repeats the smoky note and lingers with good persistence. Fans of old-school Châteauneuf will probably think my score is too low.
