The only red I was able to taste from this estate, the 2013 Côte Rôtie JYL is pretty, perfumed and elegant with notes of olive, black raspberries, smoked meats and violets all emerging from the glass. While it lacks a touch of mid-palate density, it has impressive length on the finish, pure fruit and fine tannin.
Rather dull, pale ruby with a very pale rim. Already quite evolved and a little bit smudgy and imprecise. More like a slightly Syrah red wine than an expression of the appellation. I can't really see the schist here. A hint of rhubarb. And a hint of Syrah leather on the end.?
