Still 8-9 months from bottling when I tasted it, the white 2009 Grange des Peres is scented with decadent musk melon, honeysuckle, and lily-of-the-valley, offering a silken texture and a faint overtly lactic note on its expansive palate, yet managing to retain a welcome modicum of primary juiciness and refreshment. A thorough aeration did this a lot of good, banishing most of the lactic aura and promoting the heady sense of floral perfume. Toasted almond, musk melon, and apricot cream dominate the soothingly lingering finish. I suspect this will be best enjoyed in its first 2-3 years in bottle.
