Tasted as a pre-assemblage from barrel, the white 2010 Grange des Peres – a blend of around 80% Roussanne with Marsanne and this year a mere smidgeon of Chardonnay – exudes scents of honeysuckle, peony, heliotrope, and green tea, along with tangerine and lime rind that follow pungently on a palate of silken and glyceral-rich sumptuousness yet at the same time ample refreshment and a remarkable sense of transparency to subtly lingering flowers and chalk. This is as elegant and refined – not to mention haunting – a rendition of Granges des Peres Blanc as I can recall. It ought to remain so for at least the next 4-5 years.
