Tight, showing iron, dark fruit and chewy tannins. Medium to full body, focused fruit and a tannic finish. A little lean at the end. This needs time to open.

Monforte d’Alba. Tasted blind. Mid to deep ruby. Subdued and with the merest hint of dried fruit. Gingerbread and cherry on the palate and with juicy acidity running through. Plenty of fruit and tannic build-up on the finish. Very impressive and long and finely balanced. (WS)
