The 1976 Unico Reserva offers a smoky, roasted nose indicative of a hot, dry growing season. There are copious quantities of jammy black-cherries and sweet, toasty, vanillin oak in the wine's multifaceted, intriguing bouquet. Sweet, lush, opulent fruit cascades across the palate, exhibiting low acidity, generous amounts of glycerin and alcohol, and layers of richness. This full-bodied, large-scaled wine is within 2-3 years of full maturity; it should keep for 20+ years.
Vigorous and spicy, with impressive concentration of cinnamon, anise and plum flavors, velvety, smooth and elegant. Already aging gracefully, drinkable now, but it should only get better.
