The 2015 M by Marciano is blended of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it has lovely red and black currants, lavender and black olives scents with touches of cedar chest, violets and aniseed. Medium to full-bodied with a rock-solid frame of ripe, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, it has taut, muscular, crunchy fruit and amazing length. Should age incredibly. All class! 583 cases produced.
The 2015 M Proprietary Red Wine checks in as a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc and the balance Petit Verdot, all of which was aged 22 months in French oak. It offers terrific purity and depth with terrific notes of creme de cassis, lead pencil, spring flowers, and forest floor. This full-bodied, elegant 2015 has plenty of fruit, impeccable balance, and fine tannins, all of which give it a classic feel. It’s certainly delicious today, yet I suspect it has another two decades of longevity. It’s the real deal.
The 2015 M of Marciano Estate is a serious second wine. Bright red cherry, mint, tobacco, smoke, iron and licorice all run through this bright, mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon. There is a slight edginess to the tannin, but, then again, that is a signature of 2015 and the reason second wines exist. Time in the glass brings out a bit more textural richness and slightly darker tonalities of fruit, with hints of mocha, spice and leather that add the closing shades of nuance.
