A reasonably fine effort from Beychevelle, this dark ruby/purple-colored 1999 reveals an attractive cedary, spice box, black cherry and cassis-scented nose, medium body, decent weight on the mid-palate, and moderate tannin in an elegant, supple finish.
Plum and smoky aromas follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with light tannins and a smoky finish. A bit short, but very pleasant.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 17/20 points.
