Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouillon, the 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes has a well-defined tensile, steely, mineral-driven bouquet with lovely slate-like scents underneath the citrus fruit, later joined by orange zest and honeysuckle. The palate is fresh and vibrant with edgy citrus fruit, yellow plum (Japanese yuzu) and spicy notes towards the sustained finish. This is a very well crafted, lively Chassagne-Montrachet but hey, what else do you expect from Alex Moreau these days?
