he 1999 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru from the late Anne-Claude Leflaive seems much more reticent than the 1999 Bâtard-Montrachet at this stage. Affording it several minutes to open up, it reveals fine detail and precision, a heightened mineralité over its aforementioned sibling. The palate is crisp and taut with a strong marine influence: oyster shell and crustacean notes intermingling with citrus peel and lime. Despite vigorous coaxing, this Chevalier-Montrachet does not want to play game and refuses to open up! Either decant this for as long as possible or cellar for another few years.
