Another of the flashier wines in the lineup, the 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Folatieres is quite intriguing. The fruit is quite bold and racy, something that is only accentuated over time as the wine opens up in the glass. At the same time, underlying veins of minerality begin to appear, providing the perfect foil to the wine’s increasingly tropical tendencies. I imagine the richer, more exotic notes will only intensify over time, yet there is plenty of acidity to support the fruit. Eric Remy told me this was the first wine to finish its malolactic fermentation. Anticipated maturity: 2014+.
