The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Village Blanc is showing well, opening in the glass with notes of pear, Meyer lemon, toasted nuts and dried white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy but precise, both more open-knit and a touch less concentrated than the superb 2017.
Matchstick, lemon, apple and baking spice flavors are fused to a bracing structure in this red. Gives up a little iodine accent on the finish.
Loads of smokiness on the nose with a real drive of fresh peachy fruit. Quite dry at the moment on the mid palate, pleasant but needs time to deal with the oak.
