Rich but tightly wound, the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot (Domaine Louis Jadot) opens in the glass with aromas of peach and orange oil mingled with white flowers and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a layered core of fruit girdled by racy acids, it has turned out nicely.
From domaine-owned vines in the Francemont climat. Cask sample.
Light nose. A little astringent. Very youthful. Hint of liquorice. It will probably produce the goods eventually but is pretty hard work and austere at the moment. (JR)
A blend of Abbaye de Morgeot and Francemont. Medium deep yellow. The nose is a little biscuity and a little backward. Then there is surprising weight, largely yellow plum fruit, very good fruit/acid integration, and fair length. This wine does indeed show the power of the Morgeot terroir. Drink from 2030-2038.
