There are two-and-a-quarter barrels of the 2017 Montrachet Grand Cru, so Damien Colin supplemented a once-used barrel with a specially ordered one-and-a-quarter barrel for its élevage. Offering up aromas of citrus oil, white flowers, subtle spices, fresh pear and Meyer lemon, the wine is full-bodied, unctuous and seductive, with all the amplitude and mid-palate volume one expects of this grand cru, built around tangy acids and chewy structuring extract. Concentrated, satiny and penetrating, this is a superb Montrachet.
