The 2012 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs-Gain comes from the last parcel before you reach La Truffiere. It has a more controlled, linear bouquet than the La Garenne at this early point: nicely focused with traces of white peach and wet limestone. The palate is adorned with a spicy, fiery opening that makes an immediate impressive. There is good extract here and its fans out superbly on the vibrant finish with orange peel lingering in the mouth.
