The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques is a step up from the Village Cru with more cohesion and attractive raspberry and strawberry scents, hints of vanilla pod and orange blossom emerging with time. The palate is well-balanced with an almost languid opening. The tannins show a little hardness at present, although there is plenty of weight on the finish and decent length. Fine, if just a little conservative.
