A brooding, somber and relatively deeply pitched nose grudgingly reveals its aromas of various dark berries that display a top note of herbal tea. There is both excellent intensity and delineation to the solidly concentrated flavors that possess focused power on the lingering and balanced if somewhat less complex finale.
A rich, silky red, with smoky overtones gracing the black cherry and blackberry fruit flavors. Picks up incense and spice details as this fades elegantly on the finish. Shows fine harmony and length.
Cask sample. Embryonic bitter-cherry notes and lots of drive. At the moment, a bit dry on the end. But no shortage of energy! (JR)
