Like the Combe aux Moines this is highly restrained though notably more elegant with its spicy, perfumed and very pure nose of dark currant, plum, stone and background hints of Gevrey style earth. Here too there is excellent volume but also superb delineation to the intensely mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that possess a really lovely sense of underlying tension that confers a refreshing aspect to the hugely long finish. This gorgeous CSJ is a classic combination of power and finesse that is delivered without the slightest trace of weight as the flavors and finish dance across the palate. In a word, brilliant.
