This is also exceptionally spicy and more expressive than recently bottled Chambertin typically is with a pretty nose of earth, plum, floral notes and cassis nuances. There is plenty of concentration to the very serious and almost painfully intense broad-shouldered flavors that display excellent precision on the austere, backward and brooding finish. This is an interesting wine at present as the nose is open yet the palate impression is compact and quite closed.
