Utilizing around 40% whole bunch fruit, the 2014 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru has a comparatively rich bouquet with layers of macerated red cherry fruit mixed with blueberry, the new oak coming through in pronounced fashion. The palate is sweet on the entry with grainy tannin, red cherries and wild strawberry, as well as a touch of orange rind with a spice note towards the structured finish that is Mazoyères-like in style. Give this a decade in bottle.
Pretty heady and rich. Sweet start and very juicy. Easy to like! Lots of framework underneath. Vivacious. Kicking up its petticoats. Firm but not dry finish.?
