Sweet cherries, minerals, and earth can be found in the aromatics of the 1999 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses. This is a lush, gorgeously sexy, pure, and precise wine. Juicy layers of raspberries, cherries, and spicy strawberries can be found throughout its velvety-textured personality and in its admirably long, supple finish.
A fine rich deep red colour. The bouquet starts with concentration but not initially a sense of definition. There was at first a light biscuity edge which suggested full maturity but this proved to be more a skin to be shrugged off, because the wine grew in its place a wealth of fruit of which there had been no initial sign. The structure is based around a fruit-acid balance rather than tannins.
