One of the finest renditions of this cuvée remains the 2005 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, a deep, elegantly fleshy, medium to full-bodied wine evocative of cherries, dark berries, espresso roast, raw cocoa and rich soil tones. Structured around ripe tannins and lively acids, it is already drinking superbly.
Fine dark red colour. Immediately powerful, high class nose, not leathery but showing that the wine is going to be intense and strict. Very rich fruit, extremely powerful, light superficial evolution but so intensely youthful underneath. This vintage combines the great and the good. Definitely a dark fruited style. To keep another five years ideally.
