The 2013 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru les Suchots conveys the vineyard-typical flamboyance on the nose with lush raspberry, crushed strawberry, marmalade and creme de cassis aromas that soar from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity and a dense, quite muscular finish. The Les Petits Monts might have a little more grace, although this has the sinew.
Austere in flavor despite the rich texture, offering reticent black cherry, spice, mineral and earth flavors. Dense, chalky tannins line the finish.
