The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Perrières has a clean and precise bouquet, the terroir coming through nice and strongly here. The palate is edgy on the entry with a keen line of acidity, quite compact but with appreciable depth and grip on the finish. This is one of the best offerings from Méo-Camuzet's négoçiant line this year.
This is also exceptionally pretty with its appealingly fresh nose of wild red berries that exhibit subtle nuances of earth and a hint of game. There is excellent complexity to the supple and round medium weight flavors that display lovely purity, all wrapped in a delicious, balanced and ever-so-slightly rustic finish. This understated and cool effort should repay up to a decade of cellaring.
