The 1999 Brut Cuvee William Deutz offers up ripe, tropical fruit, sweet spices, butterscotch and toastiness in a big, extroverted style. The wine comes across as rather rich and dense, but there is just enough minerality to provide a measure of balance and freshness. This bottle was disgorged on December 18, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2017.
Vibrant and focused, with patisserie apple and pear, currant, nut and candied orange zest flavors, all accented by a spicy thread of anise, clove, ground ginger and nutmeg notes that linger on the finish.
