Robert Parker (96)

In a strange way, this rose has a similar personality to the Dom Perignon 1969 tasted in tandem. Its aromatics are hewn from rock – Alpine fresh flecked with Morello and wilted rose petals. The palate is crisp and tense with superb acidity, understated at first but building towards a refined finish of rosewater and blackcurrant leaf. This is just a beautiful champagne that shimmers with tension and refinement, one almost too delectable to cellar.

Jancis Robinson (17.50)

Quite vivid pale tomato colour. Edge of smokiness on the nose – woodsmoke? Definite Pinot Noir character. A hint of black fruit flavours but still quite tight. Much broader than the regular ‘white’ version. Some floweriness.

Wine Enthusiast (95)

This is going to be a great wine: going to be, because it is still firm, dry, serious and very pure with structure over the red fruits and acidity. Give this wine another five years at least—and then it will be both impressive and delicious.
