Keller's 2022 Eichberg Oberrotweil Spätburgunder GG opens with a “classically German” Pinot Noir nose and the fine smokiness of the Kaiserstuhl. Dense, enormously rich and juicy on the palate but also with vital substance and saltiness as well as fine tannins, this is a promising Baden Pinot that only shows its strength at the end. It is full of class.
Savoury nose of baking spice, fruit, spice and stone. Ripe cassis, stopping just sort of cooked, with an indulgent, juicy character. Blackberry and even blueberry lifted by a refreshing woody/stemmy character. Medium-bodied, with firm tannins, good momentum and a long, spicy finish. Elegant oak and balance.
