Deep, stunning nose of peaches and Mirabelle plums with wild herb and preserved ginger complexity. Impressive concentration and a wonderful harmony on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Fantastic balance in the finish. 100% from the Hollenbrand site. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink or hold.
Aus Ersten Lagen. Cask sample.
Fine and racy and quite filigree texture. Really transparent and exciting. (JR)
The 2023 Riesling Gundersheimer is from the Höllenbrand site. This is Wittmann's coolest site, on solid limestone and heavy calcareous marl, slightly elevated and well ventilated. The nose is rather shy, but the palate comes with crystal clarity, slender light-footedness and lemony tenderness. Cool depth becomes apparent on the bright finish. This is all about lemon zest and precision. It needs more time. (Bone-dry)
The 2023 Gundersheimer Riesling 1G is deep, intense and saline on the complex and forceful, slightly reductive nose. Elegant, fresh and savory on the palate, this is a deep, tight and still nervous, citrus-flavored and utterly mineral Riesling with intense and juicy yet refined fruit and serious substance. This is a Riesling that will benefit from bottle age and shouldn't be consumed too early.
