The 2014 Beaune 1er Cru Blanc Clos des Mouches is a vineyard that Véronique opined has suffered from three years of hail damage. Picked between September 13 and 23, and bottled in September 2016, I feel that this is a little smudged on the nose compared to the Chassagne-Morgeot (Laguiche) that I tasted alongside. The palate is well balanced with touches of sour lemon and orange rind, quite punchy and spicy on the finish that just needs a little length. I do think there is something that suggests these vines will need 2-3 years to recover.
