The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is, as usual, one of the highlights of the range. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, fresh bread, beeswax, confit lemon and wet stones, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with a beautifully tensile and incisive profile, concluding with a long, mineral finish.
Crisp, mid-lemon. The stones show through easily enough, even though the bouquets are typically quite discreet with Joseph’s wines. Predominantly white stony notes, relatively nuanced, the oak helps to flesh out the finish. A slight youthful bitterness. Discreet but fine
