The 2015 Montrachet Grand Cru amounts to just one barrel using the same system as the Bâtard-Montrachet, using old and new staves, though this is a bit smaller at 400-liters. It has more complexity than the Bâtard-Montrachet with mineral-driven green fruit - apple, Conference pear and white peach, all with superb tension. The palate is extremely well balanced with a fine line of acidity. It feels more reserved than I expected, yet there is wonderful depth and complexity, nuanced and engaging with walnut, hazelnut and a delicate touch of white pepper towards the lingering finish. This is a fabulous Montrachet from (now) one of its best growers.
