The 2014 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is more expressive and open on the nose compared to the Echézeaux with dark cherries, blueberry and blackcurrant scents that are succinct and detailed. There is more fruité here at the moment and well defined. The palate is knitted together nicely by the veneer of new oak, but underneath is plenty of mineral-rich, black fruit. This is a structured Clos Vougeot, just a tad introspective but very nicely focused with an elegant, quite sustained finish. This is one of the best Clos de Vougeot that I came across during my tastings.
