I have tasted the '89 VV twice in large format (the prior time was in November, 2005) and have twice been frankly shocked at how much better this wine showed from magnum than from 750 ml (even when tasted side by side). Moreover, the '89 Musigny from 750 ml is a wine I know quite well but the magnum seems to be so much better, which is to say more aromatically complex, with more body and richness and even more elegance as well, indeed to the point that it's almost hard to believe that they're the same wine. Note that this is now drinking quite well even in large format though I underscore that it should keep for years to come.
Focused and well centered, this concentrated beauty offers currant and violet flavors and smoothly integrated tannins.
