Deriving, as usual, from young vines in Les Santenots, the 2019 Volnay Village reveals aromas of cherries and sweet berries, complemented by hints of peony and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, sensual and enveloping, its lively core of fruit is framed by melting tannins. This will offer a broad drinking window.
Young vines in Santenots (they don’t have any village wines). First to be picked. Cask sample.
Lively nose, slightly vegy. Big and rich start – still seems quite sweet! And that obliterates almost all the tannin, which is certainly there.
