This was bottled just before the harvest. Light colour, the faintest of banana notes, then the stones leap up along with a little lemon acidity. This expresses itself very well on the palate, more linear than rounded, very typical for the Pernand side of the appellation. Excellent lengthy precision and persistence.
Bottled just before harvest 2018. En Charlemagne therefore in Pernand so has low pH.
Intense, creamy and spicy orange notes with white blossom too. Deep and smooth, acidity seems modest but it kicks in on the finish. Dense enough to cover the acidity on the middle. Ripe citrus and a hint of clove on the palate. Quite broad in the mouth until it tightens up at the end. Richer on the nose than on the palate. Deep and lightly chewy. Mealy and creamy on the long finish. (JH)
