Moderate wood influence still allows the distinctly earthy and fresh red currant and raspberry-scanted nose to be appreciated. The succulent, sappy and relatively seductively textured medium weight flavors possess good power as the old vines are in evidence on the lingering and more complex finale. This is really quite good and should amply reward extended keeping.
From all three plots. 100 to 120 years old. Impressive density of colour here and the nose speaks strongly. This is massively more powerful and more structured than the regular, still more red fruit than black, but darker and more authoritative, with considerable length to it. Firm but fine tannins. In a good year 4.5 barrels but typically just a couple are made. Tasted Mar 2019.
