The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses has a more engaging nose than the 2014 Bonnes-Mares at the moment, with vivacious blueberry and raspberry coulis scents, and an underlying mineralité that draws you in. The palate is medium-bodied with crisper tannin than the aforementioned grand cru, fine tension, quite linear in style with a tingle of spice towards the gentle but sophisticated finish. It is a more restrained Amoureuses from Jadot, but one exuding class.
A beautifully complex nose features notes of spice, violet and lilac on the ripe and cool essence of red pinot and plum suffused aromas. There is fine detail and a palpable sense of energy to the elegant but firm medium weight flavors that brim with minerality on the balanced and wonderfully long finale. This exercise in finesse, harmony and grace should amply reward 10 to 12 years of cellar time.
