A broad-ranging and seductively spicy nose features markedly ripe notes of plum, dark raspberry, earth and floral wisps, especially violet. The delicious and appealingly vibrant medium-bodied flavors possess a relatively refined palate impression before terminating in a dusty, youthfully austere and quite firmly structured finale. This will very definitely require extended patience.
Made from old vines with 4 new barrels out of 6.5. Intense purple. The proximity of Vosne-Romanée shows, this is pure, very intense, almost linear still some red fruit keeping the blacker notes fresh. There is currently a slightly hard dry finish which should soften with more time in barrel.
