The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champeaux has ample red cherry and cranberry jus on the nose, quite pure and with good intensity. The palate is dense and grippy in the mouth, packed with blackberry and raspberry fruit and just a tang of spice toward the sinewy finish. This has good aging potential although it needs to muster a little more finesse during its maturation.
