Winespectator (94)

Rich and supple, with the sort of lacy acidity that carries the raspberry, currant and plum flavors through the long finish in style. The sweet oak overtones never mask the fruit, and the tannins are beautifully integrated.

Burghound (91)

This continues to evolve relatively rapidly and the overtly ripe nose now shows moderately advanced secondary characteristics along with a noticeable if not dominating level of volatile acidity (VA). Otherwise there is an ample variety of spice, earth and sous-bois characters in evidence that give way to still vibrant and strikingly rich middle weight flavors that deliver simply amazing length even though there is quite a bit of gas present. As the description suggests this is far from technically perfect yet the wine's attributes outweigh its defects and thus my score is somewhat of a compromise. Note that I would suggest drinking this up over the next 10 years as it's not clear how well this will hold up with extended cellaring.
