One of the highlights of my three months of tastings was the 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, a magical cuvée that mingles notes of cherries, plums and wild berries with nuances of peony, dark chocolate, oriental spices and musk. Full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its sumptuously textural attack segues into a concentrated, layered mid-palate, concluding with a perfumed finish of unerring precision. A glass of this wine will convince anyone that the Clos Vougeot is more than capable of living up to its lofty historic reputation, and it will be worth a special effort to seek out.
