Wood smoke, peat, game, and ripe purple plum in the nose of the Mugneret 2007 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (a bottling from their young vines in Ruchottes) follow on a palate of considerable richness, with stony mineral, saliva-inducing soy, and pungently herbal inflections accompanying a persistent finish.
