The 2015 Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Cuvée du Hasard comes from their Les Singuliers range of unusual wines that are not produced every vintage. This could be described as a mini Vin Jaune, dark golden, with a spicy nose and very tasty, salty, long and fresh, with notes of smoky peat, iodine, morels and a touch of curry. It's a Chardonnay from two plots of old vines (60+ years old) planted with a massal selection. It aged for over six years in "ancient" barrels, four of those under a veil of flor yeasts. They seem to do a barrel selection of the ones with better flor and bottled this cuvée, which is pungent and powerful, with 15.3% alcohol from concentration through evaporation, while keeping a very low pH (3.09) and some minor volatility that will lift up the wine. This 2015 was bottled in June 2022 after a very long élevage.
