Cask sample. A little reductive – smoke and meat. Very smoky! A sleek palate with gravel, earth and spice. A dense palate with very firm tannins. Direct and linear at the moment. Good concentration of fruit and weight – grilled meat and blue fruit. Plenty of acidity to lift this. Needs time.
The 2021 Saint Joseph Les Granits, which hit a healthy 13.6% natural alcohol, sports a deep ruby/purple hue as well as classic, old school Saint Joseph notes of darker fruits, smoked herbs, earth, and crushed stone. It's medium-bodied, with ripe, polished tannins and nicely integrated acidity.
