Always a reliable introductory bottling, the 2001 Barolo Bussia, a lively ruby, presents an aromatic and floral nose, with notes of spices, mint and minerals. It displays clean, focused flavors of ripe red fruit on a soft, medium-bodied frame, finishing with good length and freshness. This classy and refined Barolo is made from a blend of parcels in the Bussia zone that are less well-exposed, and therefore not considered ‘cru’ level quality. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016.
Lots of plum, cedar and light toasted oak that turns toward meaty aromas. Full-bodied, with soft, silky tannins and a long, rich, fruity aftertaste. Best after 2007. 1,850 cases made.
