The delightful 2010 Barolo Fontanafredda Vigna La Rosa shows enormous promise but needs more time to integrate. This wine was first produced in 1964 and recently “Fontanafredda” was established as a vineyard cru. This means that the Fontanafredda estate would be the only company in Barolo to produce a wine with a personalized single vineyard namesake. Dark fruit and spice is folded within the tight tannic structure of the wine. Drink: 2017-2032.
The cherry and strawberry fruit come to the fore, while tar and spice flavors play supporting roles. This is fresh, balanced and persistent, with echoes of spice and mineral emerging on the long finish.
